FAQ

Ubid4rooms.com came about when our Managing Director, who has 20 years experience in the Hotel Industry, saw there was a need to bring the value back to the on-line booking systems. There are tens of thousands of empty hotel, motel and apartment rooms in Australia every night.  Common sense says that it is better for hotels to be able to sell a room at some sort of discounted rate rather than keeping it empty, and losing revenue that can never be retrieved. We have created a site whereby hotels can load their normal discounted internet rates, but on top of that, they can open the bidding function at any time, which would allow the consumer to make a one off confidential offer, which the hotel can use at its discretion whether to accept or decline. The advantage is the consumer can buy a room immediately at good rates,or bid for an even better deal.

How does bidding work?

You have the facility to offer a bid for any hotels listed available on our site.

You can make offers with a linked bid for up to three hotels and you will receive email confirmation within 3 hours if your bid has been successful.

What is a linked bid?

A linked bid is the process of bidding for more than one hotel at a time. A linked bid enables you to bid on up to three hotels at the same time and the first one to respond will get your booking and the others will be deleted.

Can I make multiple bids?

You can make as many bids as you want, but only linked bids are connected whereby the first hotel secures the booking and others deleted. Each separate booking that is not linked, is taken as a separate booking and if confirmed will result in multiple bookings.

Do Linked Bids have to be for the same days and the same cities?

No, a linked bid can be for three different dates and can be for three different areas. Say you are considering a trip away and are flexible on location, you can bid for a hotel on the coast, maybe one in the country and another in a major city. If for the purpose of a business trip, bidding gives the flexibility of allowing you to bid on destinations and dates required, with the advantage of being able to attend the location and date that secures the bid at the best price.

Which rooms can I bid on?

The rooms that are open for bidding will be a purple colour with the word "bid" in the corner of the box.

How many days in advance can I bid for?

This is a "Last Minute" site which sells rooms for the next 14 days only, enabling hotels to be able to offer the best possible rates.

Am I bidding against other customers?

No. You are dealing directly with the hotel and have no other bidders involved. The hotel will, at its discretion, determine the value of your bid and accept it on its merit.

How do the hotels determine what the prices will be and if they will accept bidding for the room?

The "Last Minute" concept is based on hotels knowing what their occupancy will be for the next two weeks with some accuracy. (They cannot be as sure over longer periods). If they realise that they will be quiet over that period, for seasonal or other reasons, then they are in a position to be able to discount the rooms on the basis that is better to sell at a discount than to keep rooms empty.

What should I bid?

That is entirely up to you, but it should be lower than the hotels rate published for the day. Obviously, the closer to the requested rate will be an advantage, but the advantage of this website, is that any offer will be sent to hotels and bargains are there to be made.

How low can I bid?

There is a lower limit default to prevent bids to stop possible nuisance bids that will not be accepted, saving hotels time by not having to action. Bargains will be made if the hotel is quiet for the period required, however, unreasonable low bids will more than likely be ignored by hotels.

How will my Credit Card be processed?

Once you complete and submit your bids, you will need to give your payment information. This information will  be processed by Ubid4rooms.com, who will then forward payment on to the hotels.

The individual properties will not have access to your credit card details at any time.

Can I change my mind once I've made a bid?

Up until the moment you submit your bid, you can amend or cancel any bid made. Once you submit your bid,no changes can be made.

How will I know if a bid is accepted?

As soon as your bid is accepted by a hotel, a confirmation email will be sent to you with all the details.

Can I buy a room immediately at the price listed if I choose?

Yes, you can buy any room by pressing the "buy now" button as apposed to the "bid now" button. These rooms will be at already low "Last Minute" rates and can be bought at any time.

Will I be told if my bid is not successful?

Yes, once a bid is declined, an email will be sent to you and you can make another bid.
If a "Linked Bid" is being used, you may have up to three bids open at the time, so if one is declined, you still have others that can be accepted, before another bid can be made.
