Like many areas of Australia, Brisbane has a high rate of tourism and rightfully so. Brisbane attractions are some of the most popular in the world among travellers, which explains the hundreds of visitors that flock through the airport every day. Whether you are coming on holiday or for business purposes the following attractions are a must see to get the best out of your visit.

Nothing boasts excitement and fun like a Las Vegas style casino. But what about a casino with all the games and entertainment of Las Vegas with a 19th century twist? The Conrad Treasury Casino is contained within a magnificent 19th century series of buildings making it a truly unique place to visit. Housing a hotel, a fully fledged nightclub, seven bars and four restaurants, you can’t go wrong with a night out at the Conrad. It is located along Elizabeth Street.

One of the many Brisbane Attractions is in fact its historic buildings. At King George Square you’ll find the 1930’s City Hall building, still equipped with a working old fashioned elevator that will take you up to the deafening Bell Tower. At Anzac square are various old buildings and sculptures, including the Shrine of Remembrance and World War II Shrine of Memories. There’s Fort Lytton a 19th century fortress, Newstead House (which is the oldest house in Brisbane), Parliament house and the magnificent St John’s and St Stephen’s Cathedrals.

It’s always interesting to discover the history of a city you’re visiting and Brisbane showcases this in full working glory. The Australian Woolshed is a fully working traditional outback sheep station, re-enacting the life of Brisbane farmers from the past. There are tonnes of displays and performances on working the dogs, the art of whip cracking, sheep shearing, milking and of course koala cuddling for the kids. If it all gets a bit too much they also have a mini golf course and waterslides.

If you’ve ever been to New York then you’ve probably been to Yankee Stadium to watch Baseball. Well if you come to Brisbane then you’d be a fool not to check out the Gabba cricket ground, with cricket being one of the major sports of Australia. This imposing 42,000 seated structure is home of the famous Queensland Bulls cricket team, and through October to March each year regular matches are held there. It also showcases the popular sports of Rugby (league and union), traditional football (soccer) and Australian Rules football. If you’re taking a trip to Brisbane there is nothing better than chanting away in the atmospheric Gabba stadium. You can get there in a short drive from the city.

For the adventurous out there you may want to get your climbing boots on and make your way to the top of the Story Bridge. Built in 1940 this huge bridge towers over the city and if you get a chance to visit the 44 meter high viewing platform at night, you’ll be taken away by the beautiful skyline.

There are many more attractions in Brisbane including museums, parks, theaters and wonderful sandy beaches. Book a trip today, you won’t be disappointed.
